Optimizing Production in the Fruitland Formation

After installing Flogistix’s FX12 compressor, our customer experienced an uplift of 250-300 Mcfd, which the site continues to maintain.

Challenge

After producing 17.7 Bcf, a shallow coalbed methane gas well was struggling against the natural decline of the Fruitland Formation coal reservoir in the San Juan Basin. The gas well on a beam pump needed assistance to reduce back pressure to allow more gas to flow up the casing annulus.

Highlights

We installed a Flogistix FX12 GED which decreased casing pressure from 90 to 40 psig. This reduced bottomhold pressure flow and increased production.

Results

The well’s uplift has maintained a production increase, and the compressor continues to show consistency and reliability under adverse operating conditions. We project that this well, partnered with our compressor, will yield an incremental NPV10 of $746,000 accounting for all lease operating expenses, average annual gas pricing and taxes.
